The City of Belpre has added a new “NO TURN ON RED” sign on Washington Boulevard at the intersection of the Belpre Bridge. This sign was added on 1-13-20, because of some confusion with motorists wishing to turn onto the bridge from Washington Blvd. There is no longer a right turn onto Main Street beside Rite Aid which makes turning onto the bridge illegal (that is going straight). It is becoming a safety hazard as motorists are still turning onto the Belpre/Parkersburg Bridge while having a red light. The Belpre Police Department will give a grace period for 30 days from today’s date for violations (you may still be stopped and warned), but on February 13, 2020- we will start issuing citations for the violations.
